Regulation of apoptosis by BCL2 proteins
Overview: BCL2 proteins (B-cell leukemia/lymphoma 2) are a family of proteins that regulate apoptosis.
Some promote apoptosis, while others inhibit it.
The family is named after proteins that are mutated in several forms of immune cell system cancers.
The proteins have a variable number of BCL2-homology domains (BH) domains. Major groups have 4,3 or 1 BH domains.
