S: Rising S-Cdk activity moves cells into S. S is maintained until DNA replication checkpoint is passed.
G2: S-cyclin expression and S-CDK remain high. M-cyclin starts to be expressed, but M-CDK activity is kept low by CDK inhibitors
Entry into M phase I.
Replication of DNA must be efficient and must occur only once.
Entry into M phase II.
