I believe that fear is one of the many things that help us build character and be unique to others. Though fear can stop you from trying to achieve your goals, fear can help you stay away from danger or embarrassment. For example, you want to ask your crush out but you're too shy and diffident to. In this case, fear stopped you from achieving your goal but also stopped you from embarrassing yourself if he/she rejects you. You'll might say that this is a bad example and that it never hurts to try, but have you ever been rejected before? Marianne Williamson quoted, "Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here." I completely agree with this statement because when we were born we all knew how to love someone. When I was younger, I didn't have much to fear. I wasn't scared of bugs, in fact, I collected them with my bare hands. When I got older, I learned that some bugs are poisonous and dangerous. I learned how to fear bugs. I was also very talkative when I was little. Yeah, I already feared presentations at that time, but I made many friends. I often embarrass myself but didn't care. Now I have fear of judgment and attention. I became a shy and diffident person ever since. In Greek mythology, Deimos was the god of fear, dread, and terror. Phobos was the god of panic fear, flight and battlefield rout. The twin brothers were sons of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, which made them represent the fear of loss as well.
